2013 SBPLI Golf Outing

The Fourth Annual SBPLI Golf Outing benefiting the Long Island FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics programs took place on October 2 at Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club, located at 2000 Raynors Way in Smithtown. This year’s honoree was Mark Lesko, former Brookhaven Town supervisor and current executive director of Accelerate Long Island.

In his current role with Accelerate Long Island, Mr. Lesko fosters an entrepreneurial ecosystem on Long Island and works with the region’s research and business organizations. Prior to working with Accelerate Long Island, he was the Town of Brookhaven’s supervisor, where he became a regional leader on the issue of economic development and served on New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council for Long Island. In addition, he was a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., Brooklyn and Long Island, a deputy chief of the Long Island Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York and a corporate litigator with large firms in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
